HOW CARBON DIOXIDE ( CO2) GETS INTO THE ENVIRONMENT
1.Burning of petroleum products and vegetation. CO2 gas is released into the atmosphere ( environment) due to human activities such as the burning of oil, coal and natural gas, burning of fossil fuel and burning of forest.
2.Volcanic eruptions: During volcanic eruptions, a lot of CO2 is released into the atmosphere together with magma, ash, dust and other gases.
3.Industrial processes: Processes such as the production of cement, production of metals such as iron and steel produce CO2 gas.
HEALTH EFFECTS OF CO2
Human activities such as burning fuel and vegetation produce a lot of CO2 in the air that we breathe. The excess CO2 displaces oxygen and creates breathing problems.
The excess CO2 which enters the human body has health challenges such as headaches, suffocation, unconsciousness and seizures.
ADVERSE EFFECTS OF CO2 ON THE ENVIRONMENT.
Some gases serve as heat traps or greenhouse effect in the atmosphere. They are called greenhouse gases. CO2 is a major component of greenhouse gases.
The large volume of CO2 into the atmosphere by excessive burning of fossil fuel and vegetation results in the greenhouse effect which keeps our planet warm.
The increasing warming of the earth is called global warming
EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING
1.Changes in rainfall pattern.
2.The oceans warming up.
3.Ice melting faster that if can be replaced in the northern pole and southern pole of the earth.
Human activities that make water unsafe for human use.
Water pollution
Water pollution if making the water unsafe for use by humans, plants and
animals.
Polluted water is any water that becomes difficult to use because it contains dirt and germs.
Causes of water pollution
1.Dumping sewage into water bodies.
2.Connecting sewage into water source
3.Washing in water bodies.
4.Swimming in water bodies.
5.Chemicals for fishing.
6. oil spillage
Ways of preventing, minimizing and controlling water pollution
1. Avoid direct dumping into water bodies.
2.Keep out oils, fat or grease from the sink.
3.Abstain from flushing pills, drugs or medications down the drain.
4.Reduce the use of herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers.
5.Practice planting trees, vegetation covers, grass and flowers
6.Avoid the use of plastics
