A festival is an occasion celebrated to remember important events. The people of all the three main religions in Ghana celebrate their own festivals.  These festivals are called *Religious festivals*

1. Christians celebrate : Christmas and Easter

2. * Muslims celebrate: Eid-ul-fitr and Eid-ul-Adha

3. Traditionalists Celebrate: Odwira, Adae, Damba, Homowo, Hogbetsotso, Kundum and many more.

They came to spread the Christian faith. The Portuguese were the first European nation to come to Gold Coast in the year 1471.
