CHRISTIANITY
Prayer is a means of talking to God or a deity. Christians pray to God through Jesus Christ. Every Christian needs to pray for effective development

TYPES OF CHRISTIAN PRAYERS
1.Prayer of thanksgiving - thanking God

2.Prayer of Confession - asking for forgiveness of sins

3.Prayer of intercession - praying for your neighbours

4. Prayer of petition - Asking for our needs

Mode of prayer: Christians can pray when they are sitting, standing, kneeling, lifting their hands, crossing their arms or closing their eyes.

Importance of prayer
1. To have fellowship with God.

2. To ask for forgiveness of sins and their needs.

3. To thank God for his blessings.

4. To grow spiritually

5. To seek strength from God.

Week 8

WORSHIP AND PRAYER
Islamic Religion

Muslims pray to Allah.
They pray five times a day.These prayers are:
*Fajr
*Zuhr
*Asr
*Magrib
*Isha

Prayers like Nafilah(Nafi) and Summah are not compulsory.

During prayers the Muezzin calls the Azzan .They perfore Ablution or Tayammum (using sand when there is no water)

They perform Istqbalal-Qibla (facing the Ka'ba )

They recite Suratul Fatiha.
They stand,bow and kneel when praying.

Jummah
Taraweeh
Salatul-Kusi
Salaatul-Eid
Salatul- Istisqa

Importance of Islamic Prayers
Reason they pray:

It is Allah's command
Their needs will be met
To ask for forgiveness of sins
To ask for protection
To thank Allah for his Mercy
