GRAMMAR USAGE AT WORD AND PHRASE LEVELS
ADJECTIVES
Adjectives are words which are used to describe nouns.  This means that adjectives tell how a noun looks like or behaves. A noun may be described by more than one adjective since nouns may have multiple qualities. For example, a woman may be hardworking, honest, smart and polite at the same time.
Since pronouns could be used to replace nouns in sentences, then adjectives describe pronouns as well.
POSITION OF ADJECTIVES IN SENTENCES.
a) In any given sentence, adjectives could be placed before the noun it describes.
Examples:  tall man,  curious boy, hardworking plumber, interesting story, magnificent house etc. When this happens, the adjective is called attributive adjective.
b) Adjectives could also be placed after linking verbs such as iswas, amwereare etc.
     Examples:
❖ The bed is soft.
❖ They are hardworking.
❖ The boys were curious.
When this happens, the adjective is called predicative adjective. You decide which approach to use when writing your sentence. Using adjectives in our writing makes it more interesting.
FORMATION OF ADJECTIVES
Adjectives can be formed from nouns, verbs or other adjectives by adding a prefix or suffix . A prefix is a letter or group of letters which are added at the beginning of a word to modify the meaning of the word. suffix is a letter or group of letters which are added at the end of a word to modify the meaning of the word.
