COMPREHENSION
Read the passage carefully and answer the questions that follow carefully.
After Worfa Dikro’s description of life in Agege, it was obvious to friends and relatives who came to welcome him that, Agege was heaven on earth. Among the people present was his nephew, kwasi Kakyire.
Many Ghanaians left for Nigeria in search of greener pastures, when life was becoming increasingly unbearable in Ghana in the 1970s. True to their wishes, they returned home with very attractive bodies, sound systems, chainsaws, cars and a lot of property.
Kakyire fought tooth and nail to win his uncle’s favour. The brain behind his efforts was to accompany Worfa Dikro to this land of honey. Lo and bohold, Worfa Dikro promised leaving with his nephew for Agege.
No night passed without Kakyire dreaming about the promised land, Agege. His lifestyle gradually changed as he imagined the happy days awaiting him in Nigeria. He increased his services to his uncle and made himself almost a slave to him. He served him all day long.
No condition is permanent and every long way has an end. Days turning into weeks and weeks into months, their day of departure was due like speed of lightening. Kakyire informed all his friends, brothers and sisters about his departure. Those who wished they were in his shoes congratulated him on his golden opportunity. They told him to remember them when he reached his heavenly destination. In a small notebook, Kakyira recorded the requests of his friends and relatives. He promised them shoes, dresses, jewellery and a lot more.
One evening, Worfa Dikro told Kakyira to meet him at the bus terminal at 4: 00 am the next day, so they could set off. Kakyire kept wake that night in order not to miss the boat. That would be too much for him to bear. At 3:00 am however, his eye became heavy. He therefore decided to relax in a three- in- one arm chair in the hall. Kakyire was not lucky! Very unfortunately for him, he slipped into a deep sleep, full of sweet dreams about Agege. No matter how sweet your dreams may be, you will definitely wake up at the end of it. Finally, Kakyire woke up at 8: 00 am, only to be informed that Worfa Dikro left at dawn with the bus.
